Human Centered Product Design

Project Overview:
I created a product “cookbok” detailing Clinique’s Black Honey Cheek and Lip design, 3 market competitors, breakdowning its form factor and this history of the Black Honey line.
Background:
With an interest in heading towards brand design and marketing, I took the opportunity to explore the form factor of Clinique’s Black Honey shade, specifically their Cheek and Lip Oil, as well as the product’s development history. As a user of the products, I thought it would be valuable to dissect their design, noting aspects I admired and areas for improvement. Clinique, a long-standing brand that I respect, has managed to stay relevant among more "trendy" brands while remaining true to its original ethos. Researching the history of Black Honey and Clinique's goal to create a “universal product” that complements any skin tone was particularly fascinating. Clinique's ability to adapt to evolving trends, like the resurgence of 90s aesthetics, has kept Black Honey at the forefront of the beauty market, demonstrating that timeless design and modern appeal can coexist.
This project also includes suggested product modifications and end-of-life strategies that Clinique could implement.
