Project Overview

A short animation made with a mix of frame by frame hand drawings and Adobe After Effects animating. The story is of a girl who grows up, but returns home and becomes nastalgic of her childhood.

Brainstorming

When we were trying to figure out what story we wanted to tell, Shannon and I came up with three options of what to narrow our final idea to. 
1. An animated music video from a favorite song, possibly Taylor Swift’s “Love Story.” 

2. Unrequited love story from either a middle school or high school dance. A boy looks across the room and sees his crush dancing with somebody else.

3. A story about growing up and leaving behind your childhood.



We decided on the third option, because we felt that there could be more room to adapt the animation into something more people could relate to.

We liked the idea of the animation to be mixed-media, including hand drawn frames. We also took inspiration from animation styles from “Max and Ruby,” as well as “Charlie and Lola.”
